Announcing Our Spring Share Your Shutters Winner

Richard Rampton

Spring is blowing by here in Chicago, but don’t think we forgot about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. Our latest winner is Tonya S., who shared a few photos of her home that truly capture the benefit shutters can bring to a room.

traditional shutters in dining room

Tonya’s home features some gorgeous new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Because the shutters are closed, you can really get a glimpse of how well plantation shutters can really help you control light. Envision that dining room with some softer lighting; it would be a great setting for a personal candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your dining room like Tonya has, you can capture the mood you want no matter the time of day.

Take a look at how the white shutters flawlessly match the white trim on the baseboard and the white ceiling. Those neutral accents let the black table and the wood floor’s natural color stand out even more.

That wasn’t Tonya’s only photo submission, however. Below is another photo she submitted of her new sliding barn door shutter!

We love this barn door shutter for a few reasons. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The homespun aesthetic of the wood with that sleek jet black sliding track above give an enduring yet relaxed look. What we like even more than the shutters’ looks is how practical it is. The barn door shutter sits on the front of the window frame, so it can control the light levels while still letting the window operate.

Since her shutter sits outside the frame, Tonya can still make use of that deep window jamb, too. For instance, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter so it can soak up some rays while still blocking sun glare from outside.

Tonya tells us that this is the third time she’s had Sunburst install window treatments for her home, and we want to thank her for her continued support in choosing us for all her shutter needs. For winning our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest, Tonya received a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

If you think your shutters should be featured on our next Share Your Shutters contest, we want to see them! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or submit a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to feature some shutters from a Chicagoan next time!

Or if Tonya’s photos make you feel like your home is missing a little something, we want to help. Call 847-250-6544 today to talk to one of Sunburst Shutters Chicago’s window design experts to get started.
